PROJECT FOR THE EXCHANGE OF
EXPERIENCES IN THE FIELD OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
The Yalova Chambers for Tradesmen and Craftsmen Union
participated in a Project implemented by the Turkish Confederation for
Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK) as an associated partner.
The
Project included 5 persons involved in vocational training from Tradesmen and
Craftsmen Unions that function under the Turkish Confederation. The 5 persons
selected were managers and training experts from those appointed at vocational
training and technology centres
The
Project was implemented in order to define the basic educational needs of
tradesmen and craftsmen, ensure life-long learning, enable career development
with guidance and consultancy services and increase the experience and know- how
of training experts and managers that function under tradesmen and craftsmen
organizations in Turkey.
The aim of
the Project was to increase the effectiveness of vocational training and ensure
the adaptation of training, guidance and consultancy services provided at
training centres by view of the example of partner
countries. The general objective was to enable the development of beneficiaries
in their activity areas.
In line
with national laws 3308 and 5362 vocational unions for tradesmen and craftsmen
must give vocational training and support the vocational monitoring of
standards. In order to strengthen the practical side of apprenticeship training,
vocational training centres were established with the
support of the Turkish Confederation for Tradesmen and Craftsmen. It was
established that it was necessary to increase the level of knowledge and
experience of these centres through transfer of
know-how from other countries and strengthen the practical side of training in
cooperation with the Ministry for National Education with a life-long learning
approach.
France was
selected as a model country because of the increasing importance of
apprenticeship training in France over the past few years, the role of
vocational unions in training, successful trainings given by these unions and
the guidance and consultancy services provided by them. French and Turkish
Unions bear great similarities in terms of legal establishment, budget and
services provided to members easing the ability to adapt the knowledge gained
from the French experience to the Turkish environment. Visits, exchanges of
experiences and now-how were important building blocks in the establishment of
a model an example. Information gained through the project will be used by the
Turkish confederation for the restructuring of vocational training and
technology centers.
